Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II said Sen. Leila de Lima should explain what happened to the P300 million in cash that the raiding she led found inside the luxury “kubols” of convicted drug lords in 2014.
In an interview with ANC’s Karen Davila, Aguirre said that de Lima’s raiding reported getting only P1.6 million in cash from the raid which excluded it original planners, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
Aguirre said de Lima has to explain this to the House committee investigating the proliferation of drug at the National Bilibid Prison during he time as then Justice Secretary.
The 2014 raid has emerged as a watershed event in terms of power balance at the NBP as 19 drug lords were transferred out of their kubols leaving only de Lima’s proclaimed “government asset” and alleged fund raiser, Jaybee Sebastian, the king of all prison gangs.
Aguirre said several security aides of de Lima have agreed to testify that their forme boss made them deposit and withdraw large sums of money. [source]
