House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez couldn’t help but think that something was amid in the Wednesday morning’s (September 28) riot with New Bilibid Prison (NBP)–probably the most controversial government structure right now.
This, after prospective witnesses for the House inquiry on the drug proliferation within the NBP were either killed or injured during bloody incident.
“I don’t think [its a normal prison riot], kasi bakit naman of all those years eh bakit ngayon lang sila magpapatayan diyan sa loob? Targetted pa ‘yung intended resource persons nung Committee on Justice,” Alvarez told reporters in a chance interview.
Foremost among the riot victims was detained drug lord Jaybee Sebastian, the man said to have been milked by then-Justice secretary Leila de Lima for campaign funds.
Putting two and two together, Alvarez said that they may be unseen forces who do not want Sebastian to spill the beans.
“Well that is sad because apparently, there are forces na ayaw na mag-testify ‘yung si Jaybee Sebastian and tignan natin ‘yung motibo, kung sino ‘yung ayaw na malaman siguro ‘yung katotohanan,” he said.
Various congressman have expressed their desire to have Sebastian subpoenaed at the end of the House probe last week. [source]
