National Bilibid Prison (NBP) detainee and alleged drug kingpin Jaybee Sebastian used to get personal visits from then-Justice Secretary Leila de Lima, a fellow inmate claimed Tuesday during the House inquiry (September 20) on the supposed proliferation of illegal drugs at the penal facility.
The inmate, Rodolfo Magleo, said Sebastian loves to boast within the NBP just how influential he is to De Lima, who is now a senator.
“Very vocal siya na malakas siya kay Sec. De Lima,” he told the House Committee on Justice panel.
Magleo claimed that Sebastian is able to invite the ex-Department of Justice (DOJ) boss to his personal living quarters, where they would allegedly spend time alone.
“Papasok si Sec. De Lima sa kubol ni Jaybee Sebastian na sila lang dalawa. Yung mga bodyguards nasa labas, he said. “Mga two-to-three hours sila sa loob.”
Magleo said that another sign of Sebastian’s influence over De Lima is the fact that he can ordered the transfer of his fellow inmates, even his fellow drug lords.
