The Philippines has been the talk of the world since the newly elected President Rodrigo Duterte took over as the president of the nation.
Immediately after he took office, he fulfilled a campaign promise of cracking down on drugs and this war has received international attention with most critising it at its initial stages.
As the war on drug progresses, many of the leaders who criticised have come back to aknowledge the need for this war.
The latest to add his voice is the Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau. Justin Trudeau in a press briefing Thursday evening praised Duterte and sent a lovely message to the people of Philippines.
“Canada and the Philippines have been good friends for centuries. Philipines, know that Canada loves you and we are giving you the fullest support. Count on us anytime and we would be at your door step.” – the Prime Minister said. [source]
