MUST READ: Vice President Leni Robredo appeals to private sector’s generosity asking for financial support!
Vice President Leni Robredo practically asked for the financial support of the private sector even as her office grapples with a P70-million budget cut in the proposed 2017 national budget.
“As you may know, the Office of the Vice President (OVP) has a very limited budget. Our budget is just for personnel and for ceremonial duties. So we are really banking on the private sector for us to accomplish everything we want to accomplish in the next six years,” she said during a speaking engagement at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM).
The first proposed budget of the Duterte administration pegged the OVP’s budget at P433,547,000.
Robredo’s office is working on a P503,829,000 this 2016, the bulk of which was inherited from her predecessor, Jejomar Binay.
“My hope is after today, we would be able to invite many of you to partner with us,” added the lady politiko.
Robredo is this administration’s housing czar, being the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) chair. However, she has also vowed to carry out poverty-alleviation projects.
“I’m here only for the next six years and I only have six years to do all I want to do. Your time in the private sector is much longer and your resources are infinitely much bigger than ours. If we work together, I am positive that the synergy we will create can bring our economy to heights we have never seen before—but only if our poor are included in the picture,” she said.
