During the sidelines inquiry by the House transportation committee, Chairman ofSubic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) Martin Diño revealed that sooner or later the Philippines may join the ranks of Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan among the Asiancountries by the first ever "bullet train" to be built between Subic in Zambales and Clarkin Pampanga.
Diño said the railway project will be done through a public-private partnership with a Chinese company which he did not confirm the name.
President Rodrigo Duterte will discussed the said project on his state visit to China on October 18 to 21.
"It is our first bullet train. Hopefully, magawa agad," he told the reporters.
High-speed trains can operate at speeds of around 200 km per hour.
The difference of this bullet trains to the Metro Rail Transit, Light Rail Transit, andPhilippine National Railways run just am average speeds of 40 km/h. [source]
